Noise Control & Acoustic Solutions

Stony Creek Services uses a variety of products to meet our customer’s needs for reducing noise and optimizing acoustics. Spray-applied cellulose products can be used independently or in combination (with other cellulose or foam products) to increase “Noise Reduction Coefficients” (NRC) and “Sound Transfer Control” (STC).

Available to meet specific needs, and in both stock and custom colors, these products are an effective and cost-efficient method of achieving noise control objectives.

Spray-applied cellulose adheres to nearly all building materials and provides total coverage. It can be installed up to five inches (5”) thick and is a Class A/Class 1 building material.

Spray Foam Roofing

Spray foam roofing is typically comprised of two components: a 2.8 – 3.0lb closed-cell, polyurethane foam and a silicone or elastomeric coating.  The spray foam provides additional “R”-Value to the roof system while the coating protects the foam from the sun’s UV rays.  Since the UV is the only thing that can really break down the foam, once covered, this type of roof system provides fantastic longevity to your facility.

Stony Creek Services will provide and install these systems on the roof of your new structure, or provide for the demolition of your existing roofing assembly in order to install the new roofing membrane.  Either way, we will provide a long-term, cost-effective solution to your roofing needs!

Typical Applications Include:

  • Metal Deck
  • Built-Up Roofing Systems
  • Steel
  • Digester Lids
  • Storage Tanks
  • Expired Membrane Roofing Systems

Product Lines Include:

  • BASF
  • Henry
  • Lapolla

Commercial Cellulose Applications

Ure-K spray-applied cellulose, produced in ‘White’ or ‘Light Grey’, can be installed in a variety of commercial situations where thermal barriers are required and provides an “R”-Value of 3.8/inch.  DC315 is an intumescent coating which has also been evaluated and tested as a thermal barrier.  Regardless, Stony Creek Services has been successfully installing both of these products throughout the years, providing the necessary 15-minute thermal barrier required for polyurethane foam insulation applications.

Typical Applications Include:

  • Arenas
  • Auditoriums
  • Bars, clubs & restaurants
  • Cafeterias
  • Gyms
  • Music rooms
  • Sound studios

Product Lines Include:

  • Ure-k
  • DC 315

Commercial Polyurethane Foam Applications

Spray Polyurethane Foam (“SPF”) is a spray-applied product that provides complete coverage and adheres to almost any substrate. It provides a complete air barrier, sealing all penetrations, with “R”-Values of 3.6 to 6.8 per inch, based on the product selected. SPF may also provide an “all in one” air and vapor barrier.

Two main types of SPF are available for walls or interior ceilings:

Open Cell   “Half-Pound” (.5 lb.) Foam

Provides an “R Value” of 3.6/inch and is approved up to 10 inches.

Closed Cell    “Two-Pound” (2lb.) Foam

Provides an “R Value” of 6.0 to 7.2 per inch, and provides a Class II vapor retarder at 1.3 inches in thickness. This foam is more rigid and has stronger adhesive properties.

Typical Applications Include:

  • Interior Stud Walls
  • Insulating Roof Decks or Attics
  • Box Headers & Window Jambs

Product Lines Include:

Icynene Open and Closed Cell

Typical Applications Include:

  • Metal Buildings / Pole Barns
  • Interior/Exterior Stud Walls
  • Precast Tilt-Up Walls
  • Exterior Sheathing
  • CMU Masonry Brick Cavities
  • CMU Block Hollow Cavities

Product Lines Include:

  • Elastospray / Walltite (BASF)
  • Stryofoam / Dow
  • InsulBloc / InsulStar (NCFI)

  • Permax (Henry)
  • Tripolymer Foam (Block fill)

Air Barrier Applications

Stony Creek Services also installs a wide variety of air and vapor barrier systems.  Air barrier systems can help provide for better building performance by reducing operating costs.  This is accomplished by minimizing the amount of uncontrolled air leakage which allows for greater control over temperature and humidity.  Controlling these aspects of building function also lowers the possibility for mold growth and increases air quality.

Air barrier systems are typically applied in either a sheet membrane or in a fluid-applied fashion.  Sheet membranes are more typically used over exterior sheathing materials such as densglass or plywood/OSB.  Fluid-applied air barriers are usually reserved for more porous substrates like masonry and concrete, although they may be installed over common exterior sheathing products also.

Depending on the specific needs of the builder or home-owner, Stony Creek Services can use spray-applied cellulose or polyurethane foam to provide thermal barrier protection to save on heating and cooling costs and provide for a healthier living environment.

Loose-fill insulation can be used for walls or attics.
